This month, Cirque de Soleil is coming to Hershey at The Giant Center on August 18,2011 through August 21,2011! The Giant Center is only a few minutes away from The Suites at Hershey.

Cirque de Soliel is known for amazing, eye catching shows full of acrobatics, stunts and dancing for everyone of all ages to enjoy! After years of being in large cities throughout the world, Cirque de Soleil is finally coming to HERSHEY!

The show at Hershey is called "Quidam" and is about a girl whose parents are distant and ignore her. She is seeking for something to fill the lonliness she fills so she enters into a world of imagination! Hersheypark is just a 1/2 mile from the Bluegreen resort, The Suites at Hershey! Tons of thrills, chills, and just plain ol' fashion fun! For those who love the thrill of a roller coaster, there are plenty of them for you to enjoy, such as the Storm Runner, The Great Bear and the very first roller coaster in Hershey, PA, THE COMET! Have young children? There is still plenty of rides for them to enjoy! They can see what rides they can go on by standing underneath the candy bar signs. Maybe they are a Hershey Kiss or a Peanut Butter Cup. Wanna have a splash? Go enjoy Hersheypark's Boardwalk. A tribute to the east coast boardwalks, there are tons of slides, a wave pool and even a kiddie area where they can run and play. If you are not much of a thrill seeker, there are plenty of shows for you to see at the ampitheatre inside Hersheypark as well as the aquatheatre where you can see dolphins! You may even get a chance to feed them!!!

Just wanting to relax? Stay on the resort property and lounge by the outdoor pool. We have plenty of lounge chairs for you to soak up some sun. There are also two gazebos for you to sit in if the sun is a little too bright for you! Grill out while you are here on one of our two grills! Just see the front desk staff for the grilling utensils. ATTENTION FAMILIES!!!!

Are you thinking that museums aren't for young kids? We have just the museum for you and the little ones!!

Down in Lancaster County there is a museum called Hands-on House! This place is fantastic for children ages 2-10! It is very interactive and they have plenty of creative activities they can participate in!! Hands-on House Museum is located about 45 minutes from the Suites at Hershey!

There are a bunch of different exhibits for everyone to enjoy and each exhibit has its own theme. For example, there is a CORNER GROCERY exhibit where they can shop for groceries and learn how to eat healthy. There is also an E-I-E-I KNOW exhibit where children can discover how Lancaster County farmers grow food. There are plenty more to see and do but we, at the resort don't want to spoil all the fun!

The museum is open Monday through Thursday from 10am-5pm. On Fridays they are open 10am -8pm. Saturdays the museum is open10am to 5pm and Sundays hours are from 12-5. Admission is $8.50 for everyone of all ages. For a calender of events or more information visit www.handsonhouse.org

BLUEGREEN CHARITY FOR THE MONTH OF JULY

This month, we are proud to announce that Bluegreen and The Suites at Hershey is supporting Cystic Fibrosis.

Cystic Fibrosis is a chronic and inherited disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. This disease affects approximately 30,000 Americans and up to 70,000 people worldwide.There are about 1000 new cases diagnosed each year and more then 70% are diagnosed by age 2. A very thick and sticky mucus clogs the lungs which leads to life-threatening lung infections and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes to break down food.

There are a few symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis. One symptom is that people have very salty-tasting skin. Another symptom is frequent coughing and with phlegm. Frequent lung infections is another symptom of Cystic Fibrosis.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been fighting to find a cure for this disease since 1955. The foundation funds and accredits 115 CF care centers, 95 adult care programs, and 50 affiliate programs.

HOT DOG MONTH IS HERE!!!!!! This month, the Suites at Hershey is celebrating and we want you to join us!!!! This saturday is the first of our celebration and what better way to celebrate then to have hot dogs on the grill?

Saturday, July 16, 2011, the Front Desk Supervisor, Jen, is grilling hot dogs for our guests and owners from 1pm-2pm! Along with the hot dog, you can get a bag of snacks for $2.00. Come to the front desk to pay and get a ticket then venture to the grill for this treat! Want a drink too? Dottie, our activities director is also giving out rootbeer floats for $2.00! Cool off with this tasty beverage and have a great lunch while you sit by the pool!

Opened in 1990, Adventure sports is a family-owned and operated business that has since added many different activities to do!!

* MINI - GOLF - There are 18 holes of fun with plenty of waterfalls, pretty ponds and great landscape! It is a great scene during the day but when the sun sets, the golf course is lit up with multi-colored lights and bubbling ponds to make you feel like your in a fantasy! This course is great for any age!!

*GO-KARTS - Want to feel like a nascar driver? Adventure Sports has just the attraction for you!! Enjoy driving or riding in the go-karts on a 1100 foot track! It is full of twists and turns that will have you feeling the need for speed!!! Drivers must be 10 years old or older and 58" tall. Passengers must be 40" tall and NOT meet the driver requirments. All passengers must ride with an adult 18 years or older with a valid ID.

*BUMPER BOATS - On hot summer days, sometimes all we want to do is jump in some water to cool off!! For an interesting a fun way to do that, Adventure Sports has Bumper Boats for your enjoyment! These boats even have built-in squirt guns to spray everyone with!! Bump, splash or just drive around on these boats and let the fun begin! Drivers must be 44" tall. Passengers must be 40" tall and must ride with an adult 18 years old or older with a valid ID. Passengers must not meet drivers reqirements.

*BATTING CAGES - Are you going to be the next big MLB player? Want to hit a ball like Derek Jetter or Shane Victorino? Enjoy the baseball cages and softball cages at Adventure Sports! Families can swing at fastballs or slowballs! Participants can buy tokens or rent the cages for a half-hour or an hour. Batting helments are available AND required. Children must be 9 years old or signed up in a pitching league.

*DRIVING RANGES - Golfers in the family even have something for them!!! Adventures Sports has a 20-acre championship golf driving range for you to practice on with sand traps and chipping areas. *OUTDOOR LASER TAG - This unique sport is a hybrid of indoor laser tag and outdoor paintball. Adventure Sports' laser tag sits on 3 acres of uneven terrain. This is great for everyone 8 years of age or older! Closed toed shoes are required to play.

Laser Tag FAQs

Q. Is this paintball?: A. No, this is a game similar to paintball but our equipment does NOT shoot any projectiles. Our equipment emits an infrared beam of light at distances of over 1000 feet. This makes the game extremely fun because the range of the laser tag units allows players to engage each other more than three football fields away from one another. The game is about stealth, teamwork and FUN!
Q. Is it like paintball or indoor laser tag?: A. It is a hybrid of both. It is an outdoor game like paintball, however, it uses technology that is similar to indoor laser tag. The unique part of Outdoor Laser Tag is the accuracy and range.
Q. Does it have to be dark outside to play?: A. No. Once again the unique technology allows for daytime play. The Outdoor Laser Tag field at Adventure Sports is currently open from 10 AM until dark. The installation of lights for after dark play is being considered.
Q. Does it hurt when you get hit?: A. No, the Outdoor Laser Tag units use a harmless infrared technology similar to a TV remote to deliver the "tag" which causes your sensors to light up. In addition to your sensors lighting up when tagged, your laser tag unit will emit sounds to indicate that you have been tagged.
Q. What if it rains?: A. We do not recommend playing if it is raining. We understand that it won't be as much fun playing in the rain. Your outing can be rescheduled.
Q. Can anyone play Outdoor Laser Tag?: A. The taggers themselves are sturdy and have some weight. Therefore, at Adventure Sports in Hershey, the game is open to anyone that is at least eight or older. Regardless of physical capabilities, guests will find a way to be comfortable playing. You may be a runner that moves offensively or someone who stays back and protects teammates.

Q. What should I wear to play outdoor laser tag?: A. Outdoor Laser Tag is played on a three acre field with uneven terrain, trees, bridges and bunkers. Players should wear clothes that they do not mind getting dirty. All players must wear sneakers or comfortable hiking shoes. Open toed shoes or sandals are NOT allowed on the field. Long pants are recommended.
Q. What if I don't have sneakers or hiking shoes with me?: A. Adventure Sports in Hershey has a selection of sneakers in various sizes for guests to rent during their laser tag session.
Q. Will I be on the playing field with people I don't know?: A. Open play sessions at Adventure Sports are $7 for fifteen minutes of play. Up to 45 players can be on the field at one time. Reservations can be made for 1 hour and 2 hour rentals. If you arrive by yourself or with a few friends, it is likely that you will be teamed up with other open play participants.
Q. What if I want a private laser tag session?: A. The playing field can be reserved for private outings during times that Adventure Sports in Hershey is closed to the public in the spring and the fall. Private reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. During private rentals, a greater variety of games will be played. Please call 717-533-7479 to make a private reservation.
Q. Can I bring outside beverages?: A. No. Adventure Sports in Hershey has a water cooler and paper cups at the playing field at no charge. In addition, a soda/water vending machine is nearby.

*Arcade and Ice Cream Parlor - Arcade has 60 interactive and redemtion games for everyone in the family to enjoy!! LAKE TOBIAS WILDLIFE PARK

In Halifax, Pennsylvania, there is a local favorite attraction called Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. Created in 1965, Lake Tobias has amazed people with their wild and exotic animals. This family-owned business has over 140,000 visitors each season!!!

Not only do you get to see monkeys, tigers and zebra, guests can take a look at alligators, snakes and others in their Reptiles and Exotics building. Want to learn more about all of the creatures at the park? They provide plenty of presentations throughout the day!

ATTRACTIONS

SAFARI - The Safari is the most popular attraction at Lake Tobias. There are 150 acres of wildlife and exotic animals from all over the world. Want to know what type of animals you might see? Here some are: Buffalo, Elk, Emu, Red Deer and Texas longhorn!!

REPTILE BUILDING - This month, Lake Tobias Wildlife Park just opened a NEW reptiles building. This is one of the most eye-catching attractions at the park and there are 20-minute presentations throughout the day to explain the creatures you see!! Take a look at alligators, snakes, turtles and frogs.

PETTING ZOO - The petting zoo is the most favorite attractions for children of all ages!! The petting zoo has everything from goats to llamas. They love to be fed the food that is sold at the petting zoo. (Just beware they may want to nibble on your clothes)

There are wineries, the Hollywood Casino, night life in Harrisburg, The Chocolate Spa at The Hotel Hershey, Golfing, and you can even tour the Harley Davidson Plant in York, Pa.

WINERIES

Mt Hope Winery - Mt. Hope Winery is located in Manheim, Pa about, 30 minutes from the resort. Since 1980, Mt. Hope Winery has produced many award winning wines which are all from Pennsylvania fruits. The winery offers complimentary wine tasting at the carriage house and they also offer group tasting. They also offer corkscrews, stemware, and other household items. The winery is open Monday through Saturday 10am - 6pm and Sunday 11am-6pm. MAKE SURE YOU TRY THEIR ICE WINE!!!

Nissley Vineyards - Nissley Vineyards is located in Lancaster County and is family-owned and operated for over 30 years. They are open 7 days a week and year round for tastings, tours and sales. They even personalize wine for you if you order it ahead of time!! Every Saturday from July 2 through labor day weekend, they have "Music in the Vineyards 2011". A series of lawn concerts that you can enjoy with a glass of wine in the beautiful country side. Enjoy a romantic evening under the stars with amazing regional big bands, light rock and oldies music. Don't forget to bring a picnic supper with you!. The hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sundays 1pm-4pm.

HOLLYWOOD CASINO

Hollywood Casino is a full casino and horse track located in Grantville, PA, about 10 minutes from the Suites at Hershey. They have more then 50 table games including black jack, poker, craps, roulette, and pai gow poker. There are also over 2,450 brand new slot machines where you can enjoy some of the latest games such as Wheel of Fortune and Deal or No Deal. Play penny slots, nickel slots, or even $5 slots. They have great live entertainment that offers everything from jazz to classic rock to even "nationally-acclaimed" tribute bands.

GOLFING

Guys weekend away? Come enjoy the many golf courses located in Hershey and Hummelstown, PA. We have something for everyone, whether you are a beginner, or a seasoned pro!!! There is the Hershey Links which is owned by Hershey and a public course. The golf course prices range from $75.00 - $125.00 for 18-holes. Deer Valley is the course we recommend to everyone! It is located 5 minutes from The Suites at Hershey and only costs $30.00 for a round of 18 holes plus a cart. It is secluded from the highway and is absolutely beautiful. We at the Suites at Hershey have even held a charity golf event there for Christel House!!!

THE HARLEY DAVIDSON PLANT

The Harley Davidson Plant is located in York, Pennsylvania, which is located 1hr and 1/2 from the Suites at Hershey. Tours begin at 9am and end at 2pm Monday thru Friday. Tickets are first come first serve so make sure you get there early. There are guidelines such as closed toed, low heeled shoes are required. Children 12 and under are not allowed in the factory tour due to safety. Remember no cameras or video recorders. You will see new products being developed and the Harley Davidson Company does not want their competitors to know. Everyone who has gone, has LOVED this tour!!

ATTRACTION SPOTLIGHT!!! - THE HERSHEY TROLLEY

DING DING!! ALL ABOARD THE HERSHEY TROLLEY!!!!

We have tons of things for everyone to see and do here in Hershey, Pennsylvania. For those of you who have never stayed with us at the Suites at Hershey, or maybe you have but didn't get to do much besides Hersheypark, we here at the resort believe there is one attraction that is a must see that many people forget about. That is known as The Hershey Trolley Works. The Hershey Trolley Works is located at Hershey's Chocolate World and the trolley will pick you up outside of the building and at the end of your tour, the trolley will drop you off there too!

Where does the trolley take you?

The Hershey Trolley takes you throughout Hershey and shows you all the landmarks that make our town special. You will see Milton Hershey's home, the Hershey Hotel, the factory, and the school that Milton Hershey started.

What makes the trolley special?

The Hershey Trolley isn't like other tours where the guide says, "look to your left, you will see...". The guides on the tour make it very interactive with songs, costumes and dancing. Not only do you get the entertainment value, but they give you tons of free chocolate to enjoy!! And who doesn't enjoy chocolate???

The trolley runs every day, rain or shine. The tours take 45 minutes and tickets are $12.95 for ages 13-61; $11.95 for ages 62+; and children 3-12 are $5.95

A Whimsical Day of Fairies and Flowers

Are you in the Hershey area this weekend? The Hershey Gardens are one of the most talked about attractions here in Hershey. The gardens are located at the Hotel Hershey, less then 5 minutes from The Suites at Hershey.

On June 18th, from 1pm-4pm, the Hershey Gardens are hosting a special event called "A Whimsical Day of Fairies and Flowers" Children can come dressed up and search for "fairy doors" that reveal all the fairies that call the gardens home. The kids can also make fairy crafts, make wishes on the wishing bush AND even meet the famous Hershey Rose Fairy!!!

The price is $8.00 per child plus the regular admission price.

There are other fun activities at the Gardens as well!!! From exotic and botanical flowers, to a butterfly house full of butterflies and a children's garden where the kids can play!

The National Wildlife Federation focuses on the environment with things such as global warning, wildlife,and different activities to get you and your family outside!

Wildlife is such a beautiful part of our countries nature and outdoors and over the years there have been some disasters that pose harm to these creatures. One way the National Wildlife Federation is helping our countries critters is by focusing on the animals and wildlife that were effected by the gulf coast disasters. They also help protect endangered animals and restore natural habitats.

Global warning - every year 20-30% of our animals and plants are on the verge of becoming extinct due to this very issue. The National Wildlife Federation is supporting better energy usages to help keep this issue to a minimum.

Dairy Month!!!!

Do you like milk? How about ice cream? Here in Hershey, PA we love everything dairy!! We need it to make our famous chocolate bar!! The Suites at Hershey is proud to announce the celebration of Dairy Month!! Throughout the month of June, we have some special activities that involve milk and ice cream!!

On June 13th and June 13th and 14th, the Turkey Hill cow will be on property!! Stop by the clubhouse and see it...even take your picture with it. We may even have some samples of ice cream for you!

June 14th, we will be having a "mooing" contest!!! Are you the best "moo'er" at the Suites at Hershey??? The winner will receive a free coupon to "Phillip Arthur's Ice Cream Parlor" here in Hershey!!

A New Look in Building 3

The Suites at Hershey has been working the last couple of months on renovations!!! The newest renovation involves our "COCOA" building, also known as building 3. The renovations are to our floors in the living room area/dining room area. We have just put in hard wood floors and we only have 2 more rooms to go. THE CIRCUS IS COMING TO TOWN!!!!

THE TOWN OF HERSHEY IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT RINGLING BROS AND BARNUM AND BAILEY IS COMING TO TOWN IN JUST A FEW DAYS!!!! Starting May 25th, 2011, the circus will be here in town at the GIANT CENTER Arena for 5 days.

The show has stopped in Hershey for the last few years and always brings a spectacular show to everyone of all ages!!! This year they are performing a brand new show called "Fully Charged" It is there most electrifying edition ever!! There will be dare devils, superhuman stunts and never before seen performances.

What is there to see???

- Tabayara - an animal trainer with the rare ability to communicate with animals such as stunning horses, massive elephants and scary tigers!

- A strongman duo who will shake the ground when they walk. Watch them lift large heavy objects and perform crazy stunts.

- There is even a human fuse that will launch himself with a human crossbow!!

YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS THIS EVENT!!! BRING THE KIDS, THE GRANDKIDS, THE PARENTS AND THE GRANDPARENTS. THIS IS A SHOW FOR EVERYONE!!!

Tickets can be purchased online at the Giant Box office or you can just swing by the arena and buy them there!!

Stop by the front desk and get some information and keep an eye out on the train behind the resort...you may see some elephants coming into town!

Do you like to help out different charities? Do you like to feel like you make a difference? If you do, then help Bluegreen support the Christel House Charity. Bluegreen has been helping raise money for this organization the last few years with many different events, such as large golf tournaments. Even the individual resorts are doing their part!

What is Christel House?

Christel House helps educate under privilaged kids in various neighborhoods throughout the country. They build and operate many different centers in order to provide a good education for kids. Not only do they focus on school work; Christel House helps children develop character, and learn the importance of caring. The children who are a part of Christel House also get health care such as check ups and nutitional meals!!!

Did you know it was Spring Fling Month here at Bluegreen?

The Suites at Hershey is inviting our guests to join us in celebrating Spring Fling. Our Activities Director, Dottie, has a bunch of activities for the spring!!!!

For Colorful Ways to Play we are inviting guests and kids to draw on our sidewalk with chalk or create a cute little bouquet of flowers on a cloth bag!!! For the older teenagers and adults, we also have some flower pots you can decorate and design for your home, your dorm room or even a present for someone!

Easter weekend at The Suites at Hershey

Easter weekend at the resort was full of fun and laughter. We were sold out and it seemed like our guests had a great holiday weekend. Some were interested in going to Hersheypark but there were many guests who were interested in our resort activities. Dottie had a few different things going on throughout the weekend which included an Easter egg hunt and a coloring contest. The Easter egg hunt was the largest interest with our guests and we were very happy with the outcome! Not only did they get candy in the hidden eggs but a lucky few got some extra prizes. Easter is right around the corner!!!!!!!

Here at the Suites at Hershey, we have some plans in the works for our Bluegreen owners and guests to enjoy. Dottie, our activities director will be at the resort Friday, Saturday and Sunday and she is planning some great activities to celebrate the holiday weekend. We are hoping to have easter themed arts and crafts, games and other special things for our guests. Easter Sunday we are hoping to have an easter egg hunt, with weather permitting. There will be prizes, candy and fun for all involved!!!!!! There will be pictures posted in the near future of all the events going on at our Bluegreen Resort!!

GET ACTIVE!!! That is the theme for this month. The American Heart Association and Bluegreen is participating in the Start! Walking Program. April 6, 2011 is the National Start! Walking Day. Get out there and walk for 30 minutes that day. If you would like to join, please visit the http://www.startwalkingnow.org/ and get your free tool kit.

TIPS AND ADVICE FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY!!!
-Physical activity helps prevent various diseases
-Physical activity helps reduce fat, build lean muscle and decreases risk of obesity
- If you do not have a spare 30 minutes, break up the time. Be active for 10 minutes at a time
-Use the stairs instead of the elevator
-Ride a bike or walk to work instead of driving
-Plan active vacations - somewhere to go hiking, biking or even play tennis

Now that the sun is starting to shine and the weather is starting to get warmer, there are tons of fun things to do for you and your friends and family!

Dottie our activities coordinator comes back April 21, 2011 for the weekends and then starting May 1st she will be here all week long planning arts and crafts and fun games for the kids! Anything goes from painting bird houses, to making bracelets to ice cream socials.

Hersheypark opens in just a few short weeks and to kick off the season, the highly anticipated SPRINGTIME IN THE PARK is open the last two weekends in April. Guests get to preview what is to come for the summer season. The wind will blow in their hair as they speed down the hills of the 9 ROLLER COASTERS!!! The smell of chocolate will filter the air as they stand in line for the great treats and sweets. There will be the annual stroller parade and other great live entertainment as well.

For those who are not thrill seekers, there are still things for you to do! Chocolate World is one of the biggest highlights in town. There guests get to experience the factory through a simulated factory tour that will show them how the chocolate is made from the time the cocoa beans are picked to when it arrives at your nearest stores. Let's not forget the "Make your own Candy bar" experience. Who wouldn't want to be a Hershey worker for a day and make your own dream candy bar with your own label? We also have Zoo America which has tons of North American Wildlife that you can see; the Hershey Gardens and the Hershey Story.

Finally, it seems we are over the hurdle and Spring is coming!
We are currently in the middle of deep cleaning all units and preparing for another blockbuster summer.
Very shortly, outside cleanup will begin w/new mulching being put down, gazebos being cleaned and preparations for summer 2011!
